Mastery

Not everyone wants or needs depth psychotherapy. These mastery approaches are short term and future-focused, without an exploration of why you are in your current situation. They aim to help you rediscover your sense of self-mastery, whether by finding more helpful internal resources or to transform your external circumstances.

Mindfulness and moore

Perhaps you simply want to acquire new skills, either to help manage your stress or facilitate your own personal development. Typically we would work together once a week for around six sessions, focusing on helping you increase your coping strategies, recognise your needs and manage your emotions. The intention is to increase your resilience so as to enable you to be better able to handle your circumstances, or be in an improved frame of mind to decide what changes you need to make and how to make them.

I draw on a range of approaches in the field for this work, particularly mindfulness, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) as well as methods which I have found to be powerful enablers of change such as sensorimotor therapy and the neuroscience of human motivation, resilience and stress management.

Coaching

This approach works best if you are looking for a solution-focused approach which can help identify your strengths, values and drivers and remove obstacles.

The following are typical situations which might respond well to a coaching approach:

•    You want to make changes to your career, relationship or broader life circumstances
•    You are feeling stuck but don’t  know how to remove the obstacles in your path
•    You are frustrated at your own procrastination
•    You feel trapped in the life you have created for yourself
•    Your work/life balance is far from balanced
•    You continue to suffer from imposter syndrome, despite your successes
•    You have reached a stage where society regards you as successful but you are not so sure.

If you would welcome an initial chat to discuss whether you might benefit from these approaches, please do contact me.
